Here Comes... - Israeli Radio Show - June 11, 2006

October 6th, 2002 - It was on the last show of our first tour of the US that we played Chicago's Abbey Pub and the International Pop Overthrow Festival. Hanging out in the basement early in the afternoon, Jeff ran into some guy and asked him for a cigarette.

His name was "Shy", so Jeff was like, "Oh, we have a Shai in our band too".

The rest is history...

Shy Nobleman is a modern Israeli pop artist, hit songwriter, sports journalist, and international mischief maker. He handed us his first album "How to Be Shy" and we played it on the ride home. After a full tour of the country, this was the first cd a band or singer had handed us that was actually great!

Here's some of his work:

Fast forward to 2006. Shy was gracious enough to set up some shows for me since I was going to be in Israel visiting family. In addition to a solo acoustic opening set, he let me lead his band (actually, an Israeli supergroup if you're keeping score) for full-on versions of "Mounds of Money" and "Ramona". Finally, I'd join the band on guitar for "Little Honda".

Shy also joined in for a radio interview on Kol Hacampus ("Voice of the Campus"), a student-run radio station near Tel Aviv. He sings background on "Here Comes..." I remember practicing in the car on the way over, "...spent every n-i-i-ight!"

And here's a photo from that very day!
